Different equipment has different materials and structures, and thus requires different maintenance methods. The core principles are: timely cleaning, regular inspection, lubrication as needed, moisture prevention and rust prevention, to extend the service life and avoid sports injuries.
I. General Basic Cleaning (Applicable to All Equipment)
Daily Use: After each use
Use a slightly damp soft cloth to wipe away sweat stains, sebum, and dust. Sweat contains salt, which, if left for a long time, can corrode metals, damage leather and rubber, and breed bacteria and odors.
Deep Cleaning: Once a week
Use a neutral cleaner (special equipment cleaner / diluted dish soap), avoiding strong acids, strong alkalis, and high-concentration alcohol disinfectants to prevent paint peeling and rubber aging.
Environmental Requirements
Place it in a dry and ventilated area, away from direct sunlight on the balcony and damp areas in the bathroom; during humid seasons, you can place a dehumidifier to prevent metal rusting and wood components from getting moldy.
II. Targeted Cleaning & Maintenance for Various Equipment
1. Aerobic Equipment: Treadmill, Elliptical Trainer, Stationary Bike Treadmill
Cleaning: Wipe down the treadmill, handrails, and dashboard; remove hair and debris from the gap between the running belt.
Maintenance: Lubricate the running belt with special silicone oil every month; adjust the tightness and centering of the running belt; check the base screws and shock-absorbing pads to prevent abnormal noise.
Elliptical machine
Cleaning: Focus on wiping the grip handle, seat, and anti-slip areas of the pedals, removing sweat and slippery residue.
Maintenance: Check the pedal bearings, chain / belt tightness every six months; apply a small amount of anti-rust lubricant to the transmission parts; regularly tighten the seat and adjustment knobs.
2. Strength training: Dumbbells, barbells, comprehensive training equipment
Metal dumbbells / barbells (cast iron,steel)
Cleaning: Dry cloth wipe, use a small amount of neutral cleaner for stubborn stains, and dry immediately.
Maintenance: Regularly apply a thin layer of anti-rust oil to exposed metal parts; avoid hard objects scratching the electroplated models; regularly inspect the rods and clasps to prevent loosening and falling off.
Rubber-coated dumbbells / bucket-shaped dumbbells
Cleaning: Soft cloth wipe, avoid organic solvents, to prevent the rubber coating from cracking and peeling;
Maintenance: Avoid direct sunlight and high temperatures to prevent plastic aging and stickiness.
Large comprehensive strength frame
Cleaning: Wipe the steel frame, backrest, and padding;
Maintenance: Tighten all screws monthly; lubricate the slides and pulley shafts regularly; check the steel cables and steel ropes for fraying, broken wires, and replace them when aging promptly. Yoga mat
TPE / Rubber Pad: Wipe with clean water and neutral cleaning agent, lay flat to dry, avoid direct sunlight;
Natural rubber pads should not be exposed to water for a long time to prevent cracking.
Stretch Belt / Tension Rope
Wipe the surface with clean water, air dry and store; avoid being scratched by sharp objects, store naturally relaxed after long-term stretching, do not forcefully fold.
Muscle Roller
After power off, wipe the body and massage head with a dry cloth, use a small brush to remove dust from the gaps; do not wash the body with water to prevent water from entering the motor.
